Description /facilities Set on a hillside in the centre of the picturesque village of Rodopou, Villa Menies, a 100 years old traditional Cretan house, has been lovingly restored and can accommodate 6 people. Villa Menies is an old stone village house with surrounding tall stone walls that offer privacy and peace. On the vine covered patio full of burgeoning plants and colorful flowers, there are garden furniture, sun beds and an outdoor shower. During vine harvest ,end of September, the villa quests are welcome to take part in the collection of grapes and wine making as well as wine testing. The house has got several patios in different levels with terra cotta pots overflowing with plants and flowers. At the back of the house, there is also a tiny church dedicated to Saint Antonios. On the patios, while sunbathing or dining, one can admire the magnificent views over the village and the mountains. On the ground floor, there is a spacious sitting/dining area, a second sitting room and a bedroom. The sitting/dining area is traditionally decorated with a large old wooden carved table and chairs, traditional comfortable sofas, one of them dating back in the last century. There is also a T.V. set. The living/dining area is joined by a vast stone archway and throughout the room there are beamed ceilings. On one side of the dining room, there is an open plan fully equipped kitchen with a full size brand new cooker, a fridge with freezer, a coffee machine, a microwave oven , a kettle and a whole line of kitchen utensils. Moreover, a cozy seating corner is equipped with a stone fireplace for cooler evenings. Farther facilities include an iron with an ironing board, central heating, hot water from solar and electric heater. The second sitting room is furnished with traditional wooden furniture and a collection of memorabilia and old family photographs. The bedroom has got twin beds and a wardrobe. A pretty wooden staircase rises out of the living room, leading to the first floor, where there are 2 bedrooms both with wardrobes and iron double beds with canopies. The first bedroom has also a furnished balcony with a panoramic view of the village and the magnificent mountains, ideal spot to enjoy the sunset. On this floor, there is also a large modern bathroom with a bath tube and a washing machine.
Villa Menies is ideal for people who seek to spend a relaxing, quiet holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the city or the busy tourist resorts, and enjoy being close to nature. A car is recommended. How to get to Rodopou
Chania International Airport is the closest airport to Rodopou approximately 45 kms away.
After you leave the airport, drive towards the direction of Chania city. After about 5 kms, turn left following the sign “Souda port”. You start driving down towards Souda port. Keep going till you reach the first traffic lights. There is a big INKA supermarket at the corner of the traffic lights. Turn right over there and after 200 meters, turn left again and keep driving. The motorway is straight ahead. Take the right direction towards kissamos.. Keep driving on the motorway for the next 27 kms. Get off the motorway at the exit of Kolymbari. Drive straight for about 1 km until you reach a crossroad at the centre of Kolymbari and see a large INKA supermarket and a taxi stop. Turn left from the taxi stop and follow the old National Road to Kissamos. After 2 kms, you are going to see a sign for Rodopou village and another one of “Villa Menies”. From there, turn right under the bridge and continue till you get to Rodopou village, 3 kms away. After you pass the village square, at about 100 meters away turn right at a narrow street. Pass the first houses and you are going to see a concrete wall on your left. This surrounds the gardens of Villa Menies. Villa Menies is there above the garden.
